Is a gold medal all that matters?

With the Rio Olympics entering the third day, Chinese media outlets have already started putting the medal table in a prominent place on their front pages. With the nation still glowing from topping the table in 2008, and the media flocking to cover champions, is the obsession with gold medals bad for the games? Is the obsession putting our athletes under extreme pressure? What is going on in your country, do you care about the number of gold medals?

I do really don’t care about how many medals that we will win, and i do not focus on the medals. Of course, if we could win some gold, that would be happy, if not, that doesn’t matter. But i have to say, If you do something really good, should have some encourgement, and gold maybe one of them, but not all of them. Our Chinese people are always trying to do good and show the best to the world, don’t judge us like that way”they work only for medals and not for the real gym spirits” and something like this. Everybody every country has own feelings to the golds, maybe to our country, do the best, try harder and harder and won the golds will feel happy and they really enjoy the whole training way. To be better will make them happier. So they cry for losing medals and laugh for winning and that’s true feeling of their. And we could say that’s our China’s speciality.

Is it a really good choice for the United Kinddom to be free from EU

Promising a referendum on Britain’s place in Europe was always a rash gamble — a tactical swerve blind to the strategic consequences. The stakes have risen. The rest of Europe does not want to see the Brits depart, but the EU would muddle on. For the UK, the choice has become existential. If Britain leaves Europe, Scotland will leave Britain. The union of the United Kingdom would not long survive Brexit.

The hard task will be telling Britons who voted to Leave that the free havingand eating of cake isnot an option. The new prime minister will faceaccusations of selling out—for the simple reasonthat he or she will indeedhave to break a promise, whether over migration or the economy. That is whyvoters must confirm any deal, preferably in a general election rather thananotherreferendum. This may be easier to win than seems possible today. Whilea deal is being done, the economy will suffer and immigration will fall of itsown accord

Immense online profit opportunity

China’s internet services have a potential of generating around $10 trillion of revenues by the endof 2020, according to CNBC, which quoted Goldman Sachs as saying in a research notereleased on Tuesday.

This means “immense online profit opportunity” of around $70 billion in the same period,” theinvestment bank said.

The estimates showed the bank’s change of stance on China’s internet services market.

“For the first time since 2010, we have a high degree of confidence in the long-term growth andpotential (operating) profit pool for China internet,” a team of analysts, led by Piyush Mubayi, saidin the research note.

The note highlighted internet giants Tencent Holdings Ltd, Baidu Inc and Alibaba Group HoldingsLtd, as well as online services sites such as Ctrip.com, JD.com and vip.com.

Alipay being used by 100 million to access public-sector transactions

More than 100 million residents from 124 cities in 19 provinces are now using Alipay, e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd’s mobile payment unit, to handle social services andpublic-sector transactions.

The company said its latest figures show there are 40 types of public services and 4,000business items now available through the platform.

Some of the most popular include paying medical bills and traffic tickets, making local securityand provident fund queries, booking appointments at marriage registration offices, and renewingexit-entry permits for Hong Kong and Macao.

Alipay’s business was first extended to public services in April last year. According to an Alipaystudy, people in Zhejiang province use the service most for public-sector related payments, followed by those in Guangdong, Shanghai, Beijing and Hubei.

The Zhejiang government has also launched its own government affairs service platform onAlipay to collect public opinion and suggestions.

The study showed the housing provident fund queries were its most popular type of serviceaccessed by Beijing residents using Alipay, in which residents need to input personalidentification information before checking their balance.

While in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, in Guangdong province, exit-entry permit renewals for HongKong and Macao through Alipay proved its most popular transaction.

Alipay’s biggest rival, Tencent Holdings Ltd’s WeChat, has also been aligning itself more with thepublic sector. By the end of last year, some 40 million people were making 27 types of publictransactions using WeChat, including services covering traffic, medical and public security.

Li said the great benefit to both companies, of course, is being able to obtain huge amounts ofpersonal customer data through these platforms, which they can then formulate and develop intotheir own products and services.

“The companies can target people getting married, for instance, by developing possible relatedproducts, such as tailor-made loan services to suit young couples.”

Meanwhile, on the government side, Li said using the electronic payment platforms is allowing animprovement in the quality and efficiency of public services
